About the artist

The concept behind Leana Zuniga’s Electric Feathers is to capture contemporary timelessness and versatility. Inspired by the elegance in all things effortless and functional, the intention is to create pieces that can be worn in many environments: day to night, and when possible, through all seasons. The colors, from subtle to vibrant, are all selected with great consideration for their mood, and evoke harmony with the wearer. Most of the pieces are reversible or convertible in some way, with drawstrings and snaps allowing for adjustable lengths and necklines. Sashes can be worn on waists and hips or as head or neck scarves. Matching quilted obi belts come with most pieces so that the individual has the option to style it monochromatically or punctuate the piece with their own contrasting accessories. Working with richly textured and unique fabrics, including cotton and lame but predominantly silk, Leana enjoys using hand-dyeing techniques, and hand painting pieces to create unique one of a kind pieces within each collection.
