About the artist

Brooklyn based artist Meghan Petras creates hooked rugs, a craft whose tradition goes back to New England in the 1830’s. Her grandfather was a hooked rug maker, which could be revealed in the vintage themes and playful forms that make up her work. Petras graduated with an MFA in Sculpture from RISD. Petras collaborates with her boyfriend Ivan Ballen on her ceramic heads; their playful inversions of sturdy and meditative ceramic faces bring a peaceful center to any room while simultaneously turning it upside down.
